Veteran restaurateurs Dan and Lise-Anne Serafini who partnered in the
crowd-pleasing “East Side Mario’s” Little Italy concept at Aventura Mall
in the 1980’s own GG’s on the Water. After selling Mario’s to a national
concern, they kept their options open for another opportunity.
In 2010, the former Giorgio’s Grill became available and the Serafini’s
decided to launch their newest concept “GG’s Waterfront Bar and Grill”
featuring affordably priced seafood and steaks served dockside with
magnificent views of daily sunsets.
It took a year of planning and renovation, while operating under the old
name and cuisine, before they were ready to introduce the new menu
and fresh look of the historic setting which at one time was Joe Sonkin’s
Gold Coast Restaurant. During the 1960’s Sinatra and the Rat Pack hung
out here as well as famous actors, business executives and even
infamous characters like mobster Meyer Lansky.
One of the most dramatic changes long-time guests may appreciate are
the new Patio Waterfront Lounge where one can enjoy sipping cocktails
at the bar or at lounge tables and couches as stylish yachts glide by.
Inside pleasant earth tone wall colors provide understated elegance and
modern linen and brushed aluminum lighting fixtures impart a soft glow
at night. Water-themed pictures of beaches, rivers and coastal waters
set in brushed metal and ebony frames add a sophisticated note to
the décor while antique copper heat lamps that arc over the kitchen
provide a rich tone to the colorful activity below.
GG’s is a fresh take on waterfront dining with friendly service and
exceptional food prepared in an open kitchen commanded by
chef Henry Gonzalez, who has worked with the Serafini’s at their other
ventures. Long time fans will appreciate the flavors and sensibility he
imparts to his dishes as well as the daily specials he creates sourced
from the seasonal offerings of local farmers, fish-mongers and butchers.
Dan and Lise-Anne look forward to seeing you soon at GG’s Waterfront
Bar and Grill. If there is anything we can do to make your dining
experience even more special please ask us!
